“Mark, I need you to come to Moldova next week.” Vlad (our partner in Moldova) said to Mark over Skype. “Alright Vlad, but if I do, I want to visit 3 pastors, and have these pastors take us to visit 5 families each.” Vlad agreed. The first 3 pastors that Vlad called said that they had 5 families in mind and would love for Mark and Vlad to meet them and see what the churches were up to. That’s what I’ll call miracles 1 and 2.
The families they went to visit, work out in the fields gathering walnuts in order to provide for their families and survive the winter. When Mark and Vlad went to visit the families they took with them a bag of food and a Bible. The weather was raining and surprisingly cold for this time of year. Which brought about miracle number 3. Every single family that they went to visit was at home because of the weather. Every. Single. One. Now in the missionary world, that is truly a miracle.
Many of these families have never read a Bible, they certainly didn’t own one. Many of them were living with either extended family members or in homes being help together by tape and cardboard. But on that day, they received an extra blessing of food and spiritual peace. A reminder that the God of these Christians cared about their physical and spiritual well-being. Many of these families started attending the local church after these visits.
At GSG, we aren’t going to build buildings and make a huge presence known. We want to work with the local people, who are reaching out to their neighbors and community with the Gospel.
